My Top 5 Anime Songs

My Top 5 Anime Songs

Since my last post has had me in quite the musical mood, I think now would be a good time to let all of you wonderful people know what my top five songs from anime are so that you guys can get to know a little more about me! If you haven’t already, you are more than welcome to comment on my Twitter Post and let me know what your favorite anime songs are! Also, if you haven’t already, check out my last post, The Use of Leitmotifs in Anime.

NUMBER 1: KARANO KOKORO

Coming in at Number Five, we have Karano Kokoro by Anly what featured as the 20th opening for Naruto Shippuden. This song was the anthem for what remained of the series as a whole and, in my opinion, it served as the ending for a major portion of my life. I’d been watching Naruto from the very beginning and, when it ended, I was both extremely happy for our Number One Knucklehead Ninja, and saddened that one of my favorite shows had reached its conclusion, satisfying though it was.

NUMBER 2: JOJO SONO CHINO SADAME

To be honest, I don’t really have a nostalgic reason for liking this song (especially since I only recently binge-watched Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure). That being said though, this song just slaps. Not to mention that the lyrics of the song accurately depict the happenings in part one of the series itself. The fact that you can read the lyrics of the song and get a good estimate of what kind of bizarre adventure you’re in for is amazing to me.

NUMBER 3: THEME OF MITSUHA

Admittedly, I’ve never been one for anime movies outside of the ones produced by Studio Ghibli. However, I did branch out after a while and one of the first movies I came across was simply titled “Your Name”. The Theme of Mitsuha, by RADWIMPS, perfectly sums up the feel I got from this movie at most parts. It’s sad and soulful, it hits you deep in the emotions and it is absolutely beautiful.

NUMBER 4: SORAIRO DAYS

If you know anything about me at all, then you knew this was coming. Number two is from my personal favorite anime of all time, Gurren Lagann. Every time I listen to it, all I can see is Team Dai-Gurren jetting off into the heavens above from the ground. I see Kamina, the older brother I always wanted; I see Simon, the kid that I always felt like I was; I see Yoko and Viral and Rossieu and Kitan and all the other rambunctious, rowdy, relentless madlads (and madladies) that make up the team. This song reminds me that, no matter what, I too can pierce the heavens with sheer tenacity and the people that have my back.

NUMBER 5: SOUSEI NO AQUARION

I have never seen too many people talk about this anime and, to be fair, it probably isn’t all that popular. But this song was the first song that made me get interested in the musical accompaniments in anime. At the time, I had met the girl who would become my wife and I found the lyrics of the song so beautiful, so in line with how I felt about her that it would secure its place in my heart forever as an anthem of love and devotion and destiny.
